Residents Parking Permits - Claremont Avenue

We the undersigned petition the council to Introduce parking permits for residents on Claremont Avenue.

Resident parking provision on Claremont Avenue, particularly from the mini-roundabout to the house/flats at numbers 27 and 46, has become increasingly challenging. It is now not uncommon that there is zero available space on the road that the residents live on.

This has been exacerbated by the continuous development of housing into multiple flats, which then in turn adds demand onto the street, the development at Tesco, with subcontractors parking their commercial vehicles and the return to office working, with the road used as free parking to access Motspur Park rail station. In addition, Enterprise Rentals on Burlington Road often use Claremont Avenue as their overspill car park.

The roads running parallel to Claremont (Cavendish and Belmont Avenue) both have parking restrictions and therefore residents have a far higher chance of parking their vehicles close by to their house/flat. Residents on Claremont include the elderly and those with young children, who rely on the use of the car to access amenities, schools and nurseries. Feedback to-date suggests that people are reluctant to use the car in the knowledge that they are highly unlikely to be able to park the vehicle again afterwards.

After engaging the local councillor, Robert Page, the council have advised that they require a petition to determine the level of support. Please do sign this this petition.
